Way before Ian was riding motorbikes John Fowles took this picture of Ian sat on Johns trusty Velocette (note the side stand is down).
taken at The Kings Shoot
the Kings Shoot early 60's where john was a lodger
My beautiful picture

The driveway would get very muddy so John borrowed his bosses tractor trailer and brought in some hard core bricks and mortar. here Ian, Martin Stokes and Neil Bisco unload the cargo.
john picked up the BSA C11 250cc motorbike from a fiend for Ian to use in the garden and fields. john crouched down behind rear of bike
John with his back to us on the left and Ian on the other side.

the C11 BSA when all stripped out and field worthy
In the early 60's John would pick me up usually with his Mum & Dad and take me to Blunsden Speedway on a Saturday night to watch the Speedway bike race, names like George White, Barry lee, Ivan Major and visiting Ove Fundin come to mind back then
We often went to other tracks for away events too and seem to remember going to Wembley for the world finals one year.
Mr & Mrs Fowles (Johns Mum & Dad) in front of their home in Axminster Devon
Johns M&D's house in Axminster. They did Bed and breakfast when they retired here but later returned to Dursley, I think this home became a bit too remote for them as they aged.
